The First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, participated in a significant forum during the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, dedicated to mental health issues.

In her speech, the President's wife shared insights about the All-Ukrainian initiative launched to support the mental well-being of citizens facing the challenges of Russian aggression.

She pointed out that the primary goal of the program is to bring psychological assistance closer to the people. Over 120,000 Ukrainian family doctors have already undergone training under the WHO program, and more than 300 resilience centers are currently operational. Schools have introduced 'Happiness Lessons,' where children are taught emotional awareness and provided with necessary support.

“We launched an information campaign that shifted societal attitudes towards mental health. The results show that while 46% of Ukrainians were reluctant to seek psychological help in 2022, this number has now decreased to 22%,” emphasized Olena Zelenska.

The First Lady stressed that mental health is a global challenge, equally important as poverty and climate change.

“At the 77th World Health Assembly, we, together with the Netherlands, initiated a resolution emphasizing mental health as a key priority during crises. We hope our experiences contribute to global resilience,” stated the President's wife.

Addressing the international community, the First Lady called for making mental health a priority.

“Make it an integral part of everyday life and care. It is not a luxury. It is a condition for survival and a future for every nation. We must recognize its importance,” she concluded.
