A one-day Bootcamp titled ‘Communication Without Barriers’ took place in Kyiv, bringing together participants of all ages around the idea of inclusion and equal opportunities for everyone.
During the event, an illustrated guide titled ‘The Heart Sees More Than the Eyes’ was introduced, aimed at fostering tolerance, mutual respect, and promoting inclusive values in society, as reported by the Kyiv City Council press service.
Attending the event were Lesya Petryvska, the Commissioner of the Kyiv City Council for the rights of persons with disabilities, and Olena Zubrytska, a member of the Kyiv City Council.
Lesya Petryvska emphasized the importance of creating a comfortable environment for everyone in Kyiv.
“We often talk about ramps, accessible buildings, or transportation, but open and friendly communication is equally important. That’s why this Bootcamp is crucial – it teaches us how to speak and listen to one another without barriers,” Lesya Petryvska stressed. “I’m also pleased that we presented an illustrated guide that explains to children and adults what inclusion is and why it matters to each of us.”
Olena Zubrytska highlighted that such initiatives help create an environment in the capital where everyone feels equal, valued, and heard.
“I see that attitudes toward people with disabilities are gradually changing in the capital, but there is still a lot of work ahead. These events not only raise the topic of inclusion but also showcase practical solutions. It is essential for children to grow up with an understanding and tolerance towards others. The illustrated guide we saw today is a great example of how simple stories can foster empathy and respect,” added Olena Zubrytska.
