Starting from January 29, a new financial support mechanism has been implemented in Ukraine for internally displaced persons – a housing rental subsidy.
This was announced by the Ministry of Social Policy.
The program targets individuals who have lost their homes due to Russian aggression.
Subsidies are available for those displaced from occupied territories or war zones, as well as individuals whose homes have been destroyed and are uninhabitable (and who have no alternative housing in controlled areas).
The subsidy will be granted if the family's rental expenses exceed 20% of their total income.
It is also noted that the tenant and landlord must not be relatives, the tenant should not receive state assistance for housing as an internally displaced person, and the landlord must not be receiving compensation under the "Shelter" program.
The subsidy amount is calculated individually, taking into account the average income per family member, the number of family members, and the rental cost in a specific region.
The program also covers landlord taxes: personal income tax, unified tax, and military levy.
Subsidies can be applied for at service centers of the Pension Fund or in community service centers, as well as online via the Pension Fund portal or mobile application.
Reminder:
At the end of December, the government introduced a housing rental subsidy for internally displaced persons as part of the "Winter Support" initiative. The Cabinet extended rental subsidies for displaced persons throughout Ukraine.
Displaced individuals can access the housing rental subsidy if they have relocated to any region controlled by the Ukrainian government.
