The Ukrainian government has allocated 1.6 billion UAH for the acquisition of 460 new school buses. This subsidy will enable communities to obtain new transportation or replace vehicles lost due to the war.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economy.
Purchases will be made through the electronic catalog Prozorro Market.
According to Julia Svyrydenko, the Minister of Economy, the "School Bus" program is a key component of the "Made in Ukraine" initiative.
"This program not only helps children from remote villages reach their schools, but also encourages Ukrainian enterprises to expand production, create new jobs, and produce high-value-added products," she emphasized.
The funds will be directed to regions where the demand for transporting children to school is highest, but where such opportunities are currently lacking. The state will cover 70-95% of the cost of the buses, depending on the financial capacity of the community, with local budgets compensating the remaining expenses.
Initially, military lyceums whose students require transportation will receive the new buses; schools whose transportation has been destroyed due to the war or allocated for military needs; schools with students from communities where institutions have been damaged or destroyed; core schools that will be established in 2025, among others.
Reminder:
In 2023-2024, communities and schools have already procured 1007 school buses through Prozorro Market for over 3 billion UAH.
