This September, Kyiv will host the fifth international summit bringing together first ladies and gentlemen. This was announced by Ukraine's First Lady Olena Zelenska, alongside Deputy Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov and Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi.
This year's summit theme is "Education as a Catalyst for Change," focusing on the importance of technology and innovations. Participants will include first ladies, gentlemen, Nobel laureates, education experts, and representatives from the IT sector from various countries.
The first day will feature a presentation of research findings on education in 14 countries, followed by an evening event honoring teachers. The second day will include panel discussions on educational accessibility, innovations, and the role of education in building peace. Guests will conduct open lectures at 12 universities, museums, and schools across Ukraine.
“Education is fundamental to any society. We have our challenges due to the war, but other countries face issues regarding accessibility and quality of education. This year we are excited to welcome teachers from around the world to share their experiences,” emphasized Olena Zelenska.
Oksen Lisovyi pointed out that while different countries face various educational challenges, a significant issue is the declining prestige of the teaching profession.
“Youth are not pursuing this profession, not just in Ukraine. Teacher salaries remain low. We are working to address this issue despite the war. The prestige of the teaching profession is declining, which poses a serious risk for the future,” the minister stressed.
Mykhailo Fedorov mentioned that representatives from leading IT companies, including Google and Cisco, will attend the summit to establish new partnerships.
“Our goal is to integrate technology into education, helping teachers adapt to new conditions. The world is changing, and we must prepare children for the future,” Fedorov noted.
This summit has become an important international platform initiated by Ukraine in 2021, uniting participants from over 40 countries. Its primary goal is to exchange experiences and solutions in addressing humanitarian challenges, as well as raising funds to support Ukraine.
