Football for Heroes: A Match in Support of Special Forces

A match held to support veterans of the Special Operations Forces of Ukraine, showcasing that football unites people from diverse professions.

The match organized by the Ukrainian Football Association and other institutions became a significant event for the veterans of the Special Operations Forces. The first kick was made by military personnel with amputations, demonstrating their courage on the field. They received applause from the audience, and UAF President Andriy Shevchenko awarded participants with honorary prizes.

Andriy Shevchenko expressed gratitude to the military for their service, noting that football unites people. The match featured veterans from various professions, including legendary players like Serhiy Nagornyak and Volodymyr Yezerskyi.

The special forces team, coached by Andriy Donets, showed an excellent performance. The Ukrainian veterans' team won with a score of 4:2. The first half was tightly contested, while the second half saw the Ukrainian team assert their dominance.

Miron Markevych, a renowned coach, praised the professionalism of the military, who proved they could not only fight but also play football. Player Artem Fedetskyi emphasized that support for one another mattered more than winning.

Among the audience were displaced children who received gifts and had the opportunity to take photos with the players. The match symbolized unity, and after it, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Veterans Association and the Special Operations Forces.

This event aims to assist veterans in rehabilitation and social adaptation by providing them with tickets to matches and training opportunities.
