In a historic moment, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates met Linux kernel creator Linus Torvalds for the first time. This took place at a recent dinner organized by Mark Russinovich, the well-known Sysinternals creator.

Also in attendance was Microsoft technical fellow Dave Cutler, who had his first opportunity to engage with Torvalds. Russinovich humorously remarked that "no significant kernel decisions were made" during the meeting.

Although Windows and Linux have historically been viewed as competitors, Microsoft has been increasingly integrating Linux support into its ecosystem, particularly through the Windows Subsystem for Linux.

This meeting between Gates and Torvalds marks a significant milestone in the relationship between the two realms of operating systems.
