On June 6, Ukraine celebrates an important professional holiday - Journalist Day.
Greetings on Journalist Day
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Oleksandr Syrsky, and the Security Service of Ukraine expressed their greetings to journalists, thanking them for their courage, professionalism, and crucial work during wartime, while also honoring the memory of those who lost their lives in the line of duty.
Greetings from President Volodymyr Zelensky
The head of state expressed sincere gratitude to every journalist, all media workers, and those who develop new information platforms.
“The world knows what's happening in Ukraine. Every country understands our position and sees what we are doing to defend our independence. This has been possible thanks to thousands of media professionals,” said Zelensky.
He emphasized that the professionalism, bravery, and energy of Ukrainian journalists serve as a powerful tool in the fight for truth and freedom.
“Thank you! Happy Journalist Day. And please remember the names of journalists whose lives this war has taken. They deserve to be remembered and honored. Glory to Ukraine!” added the President.
Greetings from Commander-in-Chief General Oleksandr Syrsky
General Syrsky also congratulated journalists on their professional holiday.
“In this difficult time for our country, it is you who convey the truth about the heroic struggle of the Ukrainian people, the voice of our defenders to society and the world, exposing enemy propaganda,” said General Syrsky.
He noted that the courage and impartiality of journalists are invaluable to the military, society, and the international community.
“You help preserve historical memory and support the fighting spirit of our soldiers,” added the Commander-in-Chief.
Olexandr Syrsky also highlighted that many Ukrainian journalists, with a keen sense of justice, joined the Defense Forces from the first days of the large-scale invasion, and many engaged in volunteer activities.
“Today, we remember with deep respect those who gave their lives while fulfilling their professional duty. Their bravery and self-sacrifice are an eternal example of service to freedom of speech and Ukraine. Their memory will live on in our hearts,” he explained.
Greetings from the Security Service of Ukraine
The Security Service of Ukraine emphasized the dangerous conditions in which journalists work: “Under the sounds of sirens in the rear and shelling on the front lines, you work where it is most crucial to reveal the truth.”
“Journalists have become the eyes of the world in this war, documenting the courage, pain, and victories of Ukrainians. Thanks to you, the international community understands the true cost of freedom,” noted the SBU.
