The Center for Humanitarian Demining has made its first payment for the demining of agricultural land. A farmer from Kherson region received nearly ₴5 million in compensation for his own expenses in the clearing process.
This was reported by the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine via its Telegram channel.
«The Center for Humanitarian Demining has settled the first contract for the demining of lands that the farmer cleared at his own expense», the report states.
The case concerns the agricultural enterprise «First of May» in the Kherson region, where specialists from Ukroboronservice cleared an area of over 1,150 hectares in March and April 2023. The cost of these works was approximately 6 million hryvnias. Under the state compensation program, the farmer received 80% of this amount – 4.76 million hryvnias.
The area for which the agricultural enterprise «First of May» received compensation is located in the Beryslav district of Kherson region, where mainly grain and oilseed crops are cultivated. During the Russian offensive in 2022, part of this land was affected by military actions, and much agricultural machinery and livestock complexes were damaged or destroyed as a result of shelling.
The state compensation program for the demining of agricultural lands allows farmers planning to clear their lands to receive 100% of the cost of humanitarian demining. For farmers who have demined their plots between February 24, 2022, and April 15, 2024, the compensation amounts to 80% of the demining costs.
As of October 24, 2025, 88% of agricultural lands in the de-occupied Kherson region have already been cleared of mines.
