The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine held a significant meeting with the International Monetary Fund delegation regarding the 2026 State Budget. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced this via Telegram.
"I had a productive meeting with the IMF team led by Gavin Gray," Svyrydenko noted.
She emphasized that "the delegation is working in Kyiv this week alongside the government and the NBU on a new Extended Financing Program for the period 2026-2029, which is crucial for maintaining our country's macro-financial stability amid the ongoing invasion."
"We discussed the government's action plan to revamp management in the energy sector, including launching a competition for a new supervisory board of NAEK 'Energoatom' and starting an audit of the company. Concurrently, we are conducting competitions in all key state enterprises in the energy sector," Svyrydenko stated.
According to her, "we reviewed the draft of the State Budget-2026 submitted to the Verkhovna Rada, and its approval is necessary in the context of endorsing the new Program. Together with our IMF partners, we hope that the voting on the document will occur no later than December 2."
Svyrydenko added, "We must do everything necessary to ensure adequate funding for defense and social needs of the state starting from the first quarter of 2026."
The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the IMF team for their reliable cooperation and support.
As a reminder, the IMF mission led by Gavin Gray began its work in Ukraine on November 17, collaborating with government representatives to initiate a new Extended Financing Program (EFF). Nine tranches totaling about $10.6 billion have been disbursed to the State Budget of Ukraine under the current IMF EFF program. In September, the Ukrainian government officially requested the IMF to initiate a new funding program.
