Growth of Cashless Transactions in Ukraine: Latest Insights

An analysis of the growing trend of cashless transactions in Ukraine for 2025, highlighting statistics and emerging trends.

The trend of cashless payments in Ukraine continues to rise, as evidenced by the latest statistics on the usage of payment cards issued by Ukrainian banks for the first nine months of 2025.

According to the National Bank of Ukraine, the total number of transactions (both cashless and cash withdrawals) reached 7,069.4 million, with a total value of 5,217.6 billion UAH.

Out of these, cashless transactions accounted for 6,745.7 million operations, totaling 3,414.2 billion UAH, marking an increase of 11.7% in quantity and 9.9% in value compared to the same period in 2024.

The share of cashless transactions by value was 65.4%, and by quantity, it was 95.4% (for 2024, these figures were 64.8% and 94.5%, respectively).

More than half (59.6%) of active payment cards are contactless, as reported by the NBU.

There is also a growing popularity of tokenized payment cards in Ukraine, with their number increasing by 13% since the beginning of the year, reaching 18.6 million. Among all active payment cards, nearly one in three (31.5%) is tokenized.
