The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) may offer financial assistance to Ukraine for gas purchases. This was reported by the Ministry of Finance's press office.
During a meeting between representatives of the finance ministry and the EBRD, they discussed the potential of securing funding for gas procurement costs.
"Both parties explored the opportunity to attract additional financing from the bank and other donors for gas procurement to ensure uninterrupted operation during the heating season of 2025-2026. They also discussed the prospect of mobilizing funds under EU guarantees," the statement reads.
It was also noted that from 2022 to 2025, the EBRD provided nearly 1 billion euros for emergency gas purchases to ensure stable heating seasons.
"In 2025 alone, loan agreements were made with Naftogaz for 770 million euros, of which 500 million euros were under guarantees from the European Commission and 270 million euros under government guarantees," the ministry's press office added.
