New Cooperation Agreement Between Ukraine and Switzerland

Ukraine and Switzerland have signed an agreement to support recovery efforts, including financial aid.

Ukraine and Switzerland have signed a new agreement regarding cooperation in the recovery sector. The document was signed by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Federal Council of Switzerland.

According to the Ministry of Economy, the Swiss government considers the recovery of Ukraine a strategic priority and plans to allocate 5 billion francs (approximately 4.8 billion euros) by 2036.

The agreement provides for Switzerland to offer non-repayable financial and technical assistance for the procurement of goods and services from Swiss companies for recovery projects in the following sectors:

  • Energy;
  • Transport and mobility;
  • Machinery for production processes;
  • Construction;
  • Water supply;

It also includes measures for preventing and responding to emergencies.

According to the Ministry of Economy, the agreement outlines a transparent mechanism for selecting projects through public procurement under Swiss legislation, involving only Swiss companies. Special attention will be given to:

  • The impact on the recovery process;
  • Contributions to achieving Sustainable Development Goals and the 'green' transition;
  • Job creation in Ukraine;
  • Professional training for Ukrainian specialists.
