The Security Service of Ukraine has detained an individual in Lviv who was attempting to collect information on the positions of the Defense Forces for the purpose of missile strikes.
According to case materials, the perpetrator is a 21-year-old local resident with a gambling addiction who sought "easy money" through Telegram channels to pay off debts incurred from gambling.
A hostile curator recruited him via this messenger, offering cooperation in exchange for money.
The SBU operatives arrested the offender at his place of residence.
Investigations revealed that the suspect was traversing the city and its outskirts, using a mobile application to record coordinates of military concentration areas.
He also attempted to identify military units and other sensitive facilities that could become potential targets for the enemy.
The collected data was stored on his smartphone in the form of photos of buildings and their coordinates.
The Security Service has charged him under Part 3 of Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unauthorized dissemination of information regarding the location of the Armed Forces under martial law).
The perpetrator is currently in custody without the right to bail and faces up to 12 years in prison.
The operation was conducted by SBU employees in the Lviv region in cooperation with the State Border Guard Service under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor's office.
