A woman who had been working for the Belarusian Committee for State Security since 2015 was arrested in Kyiv. She attempted to gain access to Ukrainian intelligence agencies to spy on foreign legionnaires. This was reported by the GUR and SBU.

The name of the suspect is not disclosed. However, media sources indicate that she is journalist Inna Kardash. Born in Minsk, she initially worked in Ukraine at the «112 Channel» of Viktor Medvedchuk, and later (until 2024) at the «Interfax-Ukraine» agency. According to some reports, even Lukashenko was aware of her activities in Kyiv.

According to case materials, she was dispatched from Belarus in 2020 for intelligence work in Ukraine. Over the course of several months, SBU officers and GUR's internal security documented her criminal activities and conducted an operational game, feeding her misinformation under the guise of classified data.

During the full-scale invasion, her handler instructed her to travel to one of the EU countries for additional training. She crossed the border under the pretext of undergoing a medical examination.

From the Belarusian security services, she received the task of gathering information on citizens of Belarus and Russia fighting alongside Ukraine. The spy was also meant to establish connections with staff at the Chinese embassy in Kyiv to collect information about their diplomatic activities in Ukraine.

Upon returning to Kyiv, she attempted to secure a position in one of the headquarters of the Ukrainian military intelligence, where she was identified by the GUR's internal security. Particularly, during the operational game, attempts to recruit potential candidates for the KGB apparatus were recorded.

After gathering sufficient evidence, the spy was arrested near her residence in Kyiv. Currently, SBU has informed her of the suspicion under part 1 of article 114 of the Criminal Code—espionage. She faces 10 to 15 years of imprisonment with or without confiscation of property.
