A 43-year-old man in Kyiv has attacked his relative with a knife during a dispute, causing serious injuries. He could face up to eight years in prison.
The police department in the Podil district received a call from a 56-year-old woman who reported that her brother had stabbed her.
Investigators revealed that while visiting his older sister, the man struck her in the neck with a kitchen knife during a domestic argument. The woman suffered a penetrating stab wound with arterial bleeding, and the assailant fled the scene.
Law enforcement managed to locate the suspect, who has a history of similar offenses.
Investigators from the Podil police department, under the guidance of the Podil district prosecutor's office, informed the detained man of his suspicion under part 1 of article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - intentional severe bodily harm, dangerous to life at the moment of infliction.
The court has placed the perpetrator under custody. He faces a potential prison sentence of up to eight years.
