Arrests of Organizers of Draft Evasion Schemes

In Kyiv and Transcarpathia, organizers of draft evasion schemes have been arrested. Details of the investigation.

In Kyiv, law enforcement uncovered a man who offered conscripts fake documents for money to avoid military service. Also, in Transcarpathia, two individuals were arrested for illegally transporting conscripts across the border into Romania. This was reported by the National Police.

Scheme in Kyiv

Officers detained a 37-year-old man who was offering fake documents for draft evasion in exchange for money. He claimed to have connections with the military enlistment office and other governmental bodies.
The cost of such services ranged from $5,000 to $10,000.
A 59-year-old accomplice assisted him at all stages. The arrest occurred while he was receiving the money. Seized were $7,000, a mobile phone, and documentation. Both were charged under Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code (receiving unlawful benefits).

Scheme in Transcarpathia

In Transcarpathia, law enforcement also detained two men who organized the transportation of conscripts across the border into Romania.
During an attempt to illegally cross the border, they were arrested along with their client. They received $7,000 for their services. Authorities seized radios, phones, and other evidence. They were detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code and placed in a temporary detention facility.
The detainees were charged under Article 332 of the Criminal Code (illegal transportation of persons across the state border), which carries a penalty of up to 9 years in prison.
