The Security Service of Ukraine announced the arrest of another FSB agent in Kharkiv.
"The hostile associate turned out to be a 19-year-old local resident, whose mother was arrested in January 2025 for planning a terrorist act," the SBU stated.
After the mother was detained for trying to bomb a Ukrainian veteran on behalf of Russia, the young man moved to relatives in Moscow. There, he caught the attention of Russian intelligence, who initially recruited him and then sent him back to Kharkiv to carry out assignments.
To entice the young man into cooperation, the Russians promised him further "evacuation" to Russia with a departmental award from the FSB and assistance in enrolling in a Russian university. He later returned to Kharkiv and began monitoring military bases, including Ukrainian Armed Forces logistics warehouses.
To collect intelligence, he traversed the area, covertly photographing potential "targets" and marking their coordinates on Google Maps. He compiled the intelligence data, adding personal comments and storing them on his smartphone for an "FSB report."
SBU operatives uncovered the perpetrator in advance, documented his crimes, and arrested him at his residence. During the search, they seized a mobile phone containing geolocations of Ukrainian facilities and an anonymous chat with an FSB curator.
Investigators informed the agent of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed under martial law).
The criminal is in custody and faces life imprisonment with property confiscation.
