Disturbing Incident in Kyiv

A 40-year-old man arrested for hooligan behavior with a knife.

In Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, a 40-year-old man under the influence of alcohol began harassing passersby and threatening them with a knife. Such misconduct can lead to a prison sentence of up to seven years.
Recently, police received a report regarding an act of hooliganism occurring in the courtyard of a high-rise building in the Obolon district.
Upon arrival, law enforcement officials discovered that the perpetrator, armed with a knife, had attacked a driver sitting in a parked car, attempting to open the doors. He then damaged the vehicle's body, preventing the driver from leaving the area.
The situation escalated when the offender provoked a conflict with a couple walking by. Brandishing the knife, he began swinging the blade and knocked the man to the ground, resulting in a fractured forearm.
The assailant was apprehended - he turned out to be a 40-year-old local resident who was also intoxicated. It was found that he had prior criminal charges for similar offenses.
Investigators have charged him under part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - hooliganism. The penalty for this offense can lead to seven years of imprisonment. He will remain in custody during the pre-trial investigation.
