Officers from the Holosiivskyi police department have completed their investigation and submitted charges to the court against two residents of Kyiv who deceived citizens for several months by offering non-existent products. They face up to five years in prison.
The investigation revealed that the fraudsters are two young men aged 18 and 24.
Taking advantage of the demand for charging stations due to power outages, they created fake advertisements on popular online platforms, communicated with potential buyers via messengers, and convinced them to make full or partial prepayments for the "goods".
After receiving the money, the suspects stopped any contact with the buyers and used the funds at their discretion.
Among the victims were 14 individuals from Kyiv and other regions, each losing between 3,500 and 40,000 hryvnias. The highest recorded payment was 315,000 hryvnias. The total amount of losses for citizens reached approximately 600,000 hryvnias.
Investigators, under the supervision of the Holosiivskyi District Prosecutor's Office, have charged the fraudsters under Part 3 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (fraud). The indictment has been sent to court, and the accused face up to 5 years of imprisonment.
