Young Man Arrested for Vandalizing a Vehicle in Kyiv

A young man was arrested in Kyiv for damaging a vehicle. Find out more about the incident.

The suspect has been formally charged. He faces up to five years of imprisonment.
Kyiv police received a call from a local resident reporting that an unknown young man climbed onto the roof of a car and was kicking the windshield, as well as breaking the mirror and deflating the tires. An investigative team from the Dnipro Police Department arrived at the scene.
According to Vadim Boloto, the deputy head of the Dnipro Police Department, the suspect was located and apprehended within an hour under Article 298-2 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine:
«The offender turned out to be a 21-year-old resident of Kyiv who was intoxicated. He later explained that he damaged someone else's vehicle because he lost control due to excessive alcohol consumption».
Investigators from the Dnipro Police Department have charged the detained individual under Part 1 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – gross violation.
