The Deputy Director of the municipal enterprise KО "Kyivmedspetstrans" is suspected of embezzling nearly 2 million Hryvnias allocated for the purchase of parts for ambulances. This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
"Under the supervision of the Shevchenkivskyi District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv, the Deputy Director of KО «Kyivmedspetstrans» has been charged with the misappropriation of funds allocated for the purchase of parts for emergency medical vehicles," the statement reads.
It is believed that during the tender process involving controlled enterprises, officials from KО "Kyivmedspetstrans" ensured the victory of a specific supplier by signing a contract worth a total of 5.4 million Hryvnias. Subsequently, the winner supplied parts at inflated prices.
Forensic examinations revealed that price inflation amounted to over 1.9 million Hryvnias. Consequently, the Deputy Director who signed the contracts was charged under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for misappropriating budget funds in conspiracy with a group of individuals.
Earlier, a similar charge was presented to the head of the material and technical supply service of KО "Kyivmedspetstrans", who organized the procurement process.
The sanctions for these articles allow for a sentence of up to 12 years in prison, along with a prohibition on holding certain positions or engaging in specific activities for up to three years, along with property confiscation. Currently, the pre-trial investigation is ongoing to identify those involved in the scheme.
