In the capital of Ukraine, counterintelligence and investigators from the Security Service successfully detained an FSB agent working for the enemy. This foreign national, a former military instructor from a European country, had been recruited by the Russians.
During the investigation, it was determined that he had been passing crucial information about the Armed Forces of Ukraine and planning terrorist acts.
In early 2024, possessing skills in firearms and tactical training, he arrived in Ukraine to work as an instructor for mobilized soldiers.
However, after a few months, he decided to switch sides, offering his services to Russian intelligence by leaving advertisements in pro-Kremlin online groups.
Soon, he was contacted by an FSB officer with whom he began to collaborate.
Among his crimes were:
- transmitting information about foreign instructors;
- coordinates of the Armed Forces training centers in southern Ukraine.
For the execution of further tasks, he received instructions for making an improvised explosive device and the coordinates of a stash from which he obtained a pistol with ammunition.
Counterintelligence of the SBU uncovered the accomplice in time, documented his actions, and detained him in Kyiv.
Currently, investigators have informed him of suspicion under part 3 of Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The investigation is ongoing, and the perpetrator is in custody. He faces up to 12 years in prison.
