A tragic traffic accident occurred in Kyiv around midnight, resulting in the death of a pedestrian born in 1965. Investigators are currently working to establish all the circumstances surrounding the incident. A criminal case has been initiated.
The accident took place on the Capital Highway in the Holosiivskyi district. Preliminary reports indicate that a 29-year-old driver of a Lexus struck the pedestrian who was crossing the road at an unauthorized location.
As a result of the injuries sustained, the pedestrian died at the scene.
After the collision, the vehicle lost control, veered off the road, collided with a utility pole, and caught fire. The driver received medical assistance and was also tested for alcohol, showing a level of 0.69 promille.
The police detained the driver under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. All details of the fatal accident are still being investigated.
