Authorities in Kyiv have uncovered two individuals attempting to manipulate the appointment of a director at a state enterprise within the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine. The investigation revealed that the suspects were offering their services for a substantial sum of money. The case has now been forwarded to court, with the defendants facing up to five years in prison.
In June of this year, investigators from the Shevchenkivskyi police department, in cooperation with the SBU, detected the criminal activity when they received information about a bribery attempt.
According to the head of the investigative department, the perpetrators tried to convince a man that they could facilitate his appointment for $500,000. They were arrested at the scene during the money transfer.
Following their arrest, the prosecution charged them with influence peddling. During the investigation, the suspects remained in custody. The case has now been submitted to court, and the accused face serious penalties.
