A former prosecutor in Kyiv will face trial for causing a fatal traffic accident while intoxicated. The Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office has submitted an indictment to the Holosiivskyi District Court against the accused, who is charged with causing the death of a 61-year-old woman in a DUI incident.
Investigations revealed that on the evening of July 19, 2025, the accused drove into a pedestrian zone on Velyka Vasylkivska Street and struck a woman walking on the sidewalk. The victim succumbed to her injuries. After the collision, the driver attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended. A blood test indicated a high alcohol content.
He is charged with violating road safety rules, specifically driving under the influence of alcohol, resulting in the death of the victim, and knowingly leaving the victim without assistance while she was in a life-threatening condition (Part 1 of Article 135, Part 3 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the Main Department of the National Police in Kyiv under the supervision of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
The case is overseen by the Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko. The accused is currently in custody without the right to bail.
