Man Charged for Stabbing Incident in Kyiv

In Kyiv, a man is facing trial for stabbing a passerby at Contract Square.

A man is being prosecuted in the capital of Ukraine for stabbing a passerby at Contract Square. Kyiv police have completed their investigation and submitted an indictment against a 33-year-old resident of Mykolaiv region, who stabbed a 31-year-old Kyiv resident in the center of Podil. He faces up to eight years in prison.
Recall that the incident occurred in the summer of this year. Law enforcement established that the 33-year-old suspect, upon arriving in Kyiv, settled in a hostel and repeatedly provoked conflicts with local residents during his walks around the city. In the course of another confrontation, he inflicted a penetrating stab wound to the abdomen of the 31-year-old.
At that time, officers, including community officers and operatives, arrested the attacker under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and seized a knife from him.
The suspect was informed of the charges under Part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – intentional grievous bodily harm. Investigators have now completed the evidence collection and submitted the indictment to the court. The offender faces imprisonment of up to eight years.
