The Security Service has detained a Russian agent in Kharkiv who was responsible for adjusting airstrikes on Ukrainian forces in a frontline area.
Investigations revealed that on June 5, the enemy launched a massive attack on the city based on his coordinates.
The occupiers employed kamikaze drones, particularly the «Geran-2» model.
Following the night assault, the agent surveyed the impact sites to document the destruction and report back to his handlers.
The investigation found that the detainee, a 48-year-old employee of a local auto repair shop, attracted the occupiers' attention through a Telegram channel where he sought «quick earnings».
Carrying out enemy tasks, he rode around the city daily on a bicycle, attempting to locate potential sites where Ukrainian defenders might be present.
SBU cyber specialists caught him «in the act» while he was compiling new coordinates of potential targets at home.
The agent has been charged under part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed under martial law).
The offender is held in custody without the right to bail and faces life imprisonment with asset confiscation.
The operation was conducted by SBU personnel in the Kharkiv region under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor's office.
