Arrest Made After Assault on Kyiv Woman

Kyiv police arrested a perpetrator who assaulted a woman after meeting her online.

Recently, a shocking incident occurred in Kyiv where a young man, after meeting a girl online, invited her for a date but ended up violently assaulting her and stealing money. The police swiftly identified and apprehended him. He now faces serious charges, potentially leading to fifteen years in prison with asset confiscation.
The 26-year-old local woman reported the assault to the police. Investigators found that during their meeting, a conflict arose, during which the perpetrator used a weapon, threatening the victim. He inflicted physical harm and took 500 hryvnias before fleeing the scene.
Law enforcement, utilizing analytical data, quickly located the suspect, a 22-year-old local resident, and arrested him at a friend's apartment. A search revealed a pneumatic pistol that the assailant had used to threaten the victim. He stated that his actions were provoked by disappointment in the girl's appearance.
Investigators initiated criminal proceedings under Part 4 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which imposes severe penalties. The court has ordered detention as a preventive measure.
