Officials from the State Bureau of Investigations have charged the head of the Mykolaiv housing management with embezzling 1.4 million UAH intended for national defense.
The official was supposed to procure fuel wood for the Armed Forces of Ukraine as part of a mobilization task. Knowing the actual market value of the product, he devised a scheme to profit from the purchases. Through a front company, he bought wood from the State Forestry Enterprise «Forests of Ukraine» and sold it to his own management at twice the price. This enabled him to earn over 1.4 million UAH.
To ensure compensation for the damages incurred by the state, a property seizure has been imposed on the official.
Currently, the official has been dismissed from his position and is suspected of embezzling someone else's property by abusing his official position, in collusion with a group of individuals, during martial law, committed in particularly large amounts (Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The penalties for this article can lead to up to 12 years of imprisonment.
The procedural leadership is conducted by the Mykolaiv Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense of the Southern region.
