The Security Service of Ukraine has apprehended another suspect in espionage in the Khmelnytskyi region. This individual was attempting to collect data on local military facilities and factories that could be targets for aerial attacks.
It has been established that the detained person is a laborer who came to the attention of Russian special services while seeking extra income through social media.
To gather intelligence, he inquired about essential information during casual conversations with acquaintances.
He then conducted on-site reconnaissance, photographing potential targets and marking their coordinates on maps.
SBU operatives documented his activities and arrested him while he was attempting to film a video near one of the targets.
During a search, the suspect was found with a smartphone containing evidence of his collaboration with the enemy.
Investigators have charged him under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed in a state of war).
The suspect is currently in custody without the right to bail, facing life imprisonment with asset confiscation.
The operation was carried out by SBU staff in cooperation with the Main Directorate of Internal Security and the regional prosecutor's office.
