Recently, Kyiv police received reports of a fire in a hypermarket in the Dnipro district. To investigate the incident, a police investigative group and emergency services were dispatched and promptly extinguished the flames.
Investigators determined that the fire was caused by a 6-year-old visitor to the store. While his parents were selecting items and left him unattended, he approached the lighter display, took one, and set a cardboard box on fire.
The flames quickly engulfed other shelves, resulting in damages exceeding 30,000 hryvnias. Thankfully, no visitors or staff were harmed.
Police spoke with the child and filed administrative materials against his parents for failing to properly supervise their child, which may lead to significant fines.
Kyiv police urge parents to be more vigilant with their children and never leave them unattended.
