The Security Service of Ukraine has uncovered yet another case of Russian espionage in the Kharkiv region. The arrested individual had been monitoring the movements of Ukrainian forces, attempting to pinpoint their positions vulnerable to enemy attacks.
Investigations reveal that the aggressor was particularly interested in the 3rd Army Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, engaged in intense combat in a key sector.
It was established that a 35-year-old local laborer had collaborated with Russian intelligence services.
The spy sought to gain the trust of Ukrainian soldiers by offering assistance with daily needs.
At the same time, he documented locations of significant military personnel and equipment concentration, marking them on maps.
SBU operatives detected the agent early in his activities, recorded his actions, and took measures to secure Ukrainian military positions.
Following a special operation, the spy was apprehended, and a phone containing evidence of his criminal activities was seized.
The investigation has charged him with treason. The suspect is currently in custody, facing life imprisonment.
