The Security Service of Ukraine, with the assistance of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, has revealed espionage activities within the drone unit of the Armed Forces.
Following comprehensive measures, a serviceman was detained for spying for the enemy while serving in the strike UAV company on the eastern front.
The investigation established that the agent was leaking information about the preparation of drone operations to the enemy, including timelines, flight directions, and intended targets of Ukrainian drones.
Additionally, he provided the occupiers with information about the locations and combat positions of his brigade.
It is known that the enemy used this intelligence for preventive strikes against Ukrainian drones using long-range artillery and aerial bombs.
During enemy attacks, the agent received warning information from the FSB to avoid areas of potential impact.
The Security Service detained the agent while he was preparing to deliver new intelligence to the enemy.
Measures were also taken to secure the positions of the Defense Forces.
According to the investigation, the spy turned out to be a 26-year-old resident of Kropyvnytskyi, who began seeking contacts with Russian intelligence via Telegram after mobilization. He was subsequently recruited by the FSB and offered money for cooperation.
The investigators of the Security Service charged him with treason under part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state treason committed in a state of war).
The offender is in custody without the right to bail. He faces life imprisonment with asset confiscation.
The special operation was conducted by the Security Service in Kirovohrad region under the procedural guidance of the Kropyvnytskyi specialized prosecutor's office in the defense sector.
