In Kyiv, law enforcement authorities have halted the operations of a man who, along with accomplices, was facilitating the illegal departure of military draftees to EU countries.
The investigative department of the Pechersk police, under the supervision of the Pechersk district prosecutor's office, uncovered the criminal activities of a 35-year-old resident of the capital who organized illegal border crossings for draftees.
The perpetrator targeted «clients» among men of conscription age, promising them seamless border crossing for a fee of $12,000. His accomplices handled the actual transport, whose identities are currently being established by investigators.
Thanks to the efforts of investigators, criminal police, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), and border guards, the suspect was apprehended while receiving money from one of the draftees.
The man has been charged under Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – organizing illegal transport of individuals across the state border by a group of individuals for profit. The penalty for this offense includes up to nine years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
