A deputy of the IX convocation from the banned political party «OPZZH» X. has been arrested in Ukraine, wanted on suspicion of treason committed by a group of individuals during a state of war.

According to the investigation, he was recruited by the FSB of the Russian Federation long before the full-scale invasion and actively carried out tasks for the Russian special services. From 2020 to 2021, the suspected deputy established an effective mechanism to influence the leadership of one of Ukraine's law enforcement agencies, enabling the gathering and transfer of necessary information to representatives of the Russian Federation.

After the onset of the full-scale invasion, the deputy left Ukraine and continued his illegal activities from abroad.
In July this year, prosecutors from the Office of the General Prosecutor notified the deputy of his suspicion of treason, committed by a group of individuals under conditions of martial law, according to parts 2 of Article 28, parts 1 and 2 of Article 111, and abuse of power under part 2 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. At that time, the court chose a preventive measure in his absence, namely detention.

Today, following his arrest, he was brought to the Pechersk District Court in Kyiv, which applied the previously chosen preventive measure, namely detention until 21.10.2025.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
