An employee of an auto service was involved in a criminal case after stealing a client's car, which led to a traffic accident. Police quickly apprehended him, announcing charges of the crime. The man has now received a court sentence.
The incident occurred in May. A local resident contacted the police in Kyiv, reporting the disappearance of his Skoda Octavia, which he had left for servicing. Law enforcement discovered that a previously convicted 24-year-old auto service worker was involved in the case.
The suspect took advantage of access to the keys, drove off, and went for a ride with a friend. During the trip, he caused an accident, then abandoned the car and fled to avoid responsibility. Police officers apprehended him under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Investigators from the Solomiansky District Police Department, under the supervision of the Solomiansky District Prosecutor's Office, charged the suspect with part 3 of Article 289 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – illegal possession of a vehicle. The pre-trial investigation has concluded, and the indictment has been sent to court.
Currently, the Solomiansky District Court of Kyiv has found the man guilty and sentenced him to eight years in prison.
