Man Sentenced to Prison for Threatening Police in Subway

A man in Kyiv has been sentenced to four and a half years for threatening police officers and assault.

A 20-year-old man has been sentenced to four and a half years in prison for his aggressive behavior in the Kyiv subway. The incident occurred at the «Khreshchatyk» station at the end of January. Under the influence of alcohol, the young man caused a disturbance on the platform, ignoring police warnings. He pulled out a non-lethal firearm and threatened a police officer with it. During his arrest, he resisted and injured one of the officers.
It turned out that the arrested individual had a previous conviction for unlawful vehicle possession but had been released conditionally. Investigators informed him of charges based on several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He remained in custody during the investigation.
Recently, the court found him guilty and sentenced him to four and a half years of imprisonment.
