A senior official of the Security Service of Ukraine is under investigation for suspected corruption.
This was reported by the press service of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office.
Investigators uncovered that a high-ranking SBU officer is suspected of illegal enrichment and providing false information in their declaration.
According to the investigation materials, in December 2023, the suspect purchased an apartment worth 21.6 million UAH, registering it in the name of a family member. However, the contract states the value as only 12.8 million UAH.
To justify the origin of the funds, the family member claimed to have earned them as a private entrepreneur providing legal and consulting services since February 2022.
However, investigators established that the funds credited to the entrepreneur's accounts were actually linked to the individual suspected of misappropriating funds from the state enterprise JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia,” as well as companies controlled by this individual.
Evidence suggests that these services were not rendered, and the companies involved appear to be fictitious.
Moreover, there is no confirmation of the legal origin of the remaining funds amounting to 8.8 million UAH spent on the apartment purchase.
