The Kyiv city prosecutor's office has charged five individuals suspected of illegal drug trafficking. Their actions have been classified under part 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, encompassing the illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, and distribution of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances in particularly large quantities. It has been established that the criminal group was selling methadone, mephedrone, amphetamines, and other narcotics via postal services. Approximately 300 grams of PVP, electronic scales, postal packages, mobile phones, and smoking devices were seized from the suspects.
Currently, the issue of choosing a preventive measure in the form of detention is being resolved. According to the article's sanctions, punishment can reach up to 12 years of imprisonment with property confiscation. The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv, with operational support from the Criminal Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine.
According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a lawful manner by a court verdict.
