In Zaporizhia, law enforcement has successfully dismantled a significant scheme allowing individuals to evade mobilization. Organizers sold military conscripts fake medical certificates claiming disability of their relatives, providing a means to obtain deferments from conscription. According to the investigation, this operation was orchestrated by a local lawyer along with her family members, who also practiced law. During searches at the suspects' premises, 4.7 million hryvnias equivalent was discovered, including 641 thousand Russian rubles. All participants worked in the same office, collaborating with doctors who, for money, unjustly established disability status for the relatives of evaders. Once the documents were ready, they submitted them to local government authorities, where personal connections were used to obtain fictitious conclusions about the need for supervision over fabricated disabled individuals. After collecting all the necessary signatures, the suspects sold the entire package of forged documents to evaders for $5,500 per client.
Law enforcement documented this scheme and detained the organizer-lawyer. She has been notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for receiving unlawful benefits for influencing decisions by state or local government officials.
Investigative actions are ongoing to announce suspicions against all participants in the scheme. The perpetrators face up to 8 years of imprisonment with property confiscation. The measures were conducted under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Attorney General.
