The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine has sent an indictment to court against two Kyiv residents accused of defrauding farmers out of more than 3 million UAH.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, the men had previous convictions.

They posed as government officials, calling potential victims and offering foreign grants for agricultural development.

The fraudsters coerced farmers into paying commission fees, subsequently pocketing the money and cashing it out.

The accused promised the farmers that fulfilling their agreements would delay their reporting to law enforcement, but eventually stopped responding to their calls.

The defendants are currently in custody.
