In the capital of Ukraine, an incident occurred late at night when a perpetrator attempted to break into a bank. Equipped with specially prepared tools, he damaged an ATM that contained over 15,000 hryvnias. Thanks to the swift actions of law enforcement, the theft was thwarted.
The security guard reported the suspicious man to the police via the emergency line 102, stating that he had entered the bank premises on Vyshgorodska Street. A detective and investigative team, along with criminal police officers, promptly arrived at the scene.
It was established that the man had meticulously prepared for the theft: he was in possession of specialized tools. That evening, he entered the bank and attempted to open the terminal with a metal screwdriver in order to steal money.
Law enforcement detained the suspect under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and charged him under part 3 of Article 15, part 4 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — attempted theft involving breaking and entering during a state of martial law. This article carries a penalty of up to eight years in prison.
The court has ordered the suspect to be held in custody with the possibility of posting bail amounting to 90,840 hryvnias.
