A man was apprehended by the police in Cherkasy after he opened fire in a cafe.

The individual entered the establishment and fired several shots, which led to him injuring himself before barricading himself in the restroom. The special unit KORD swiftly arrested him, and no one else was harmed. The injured man was taken to the hospital.

The incident occurred today around 11:00 AM when the police received reports of gunfire on Smilyanska Street. A special police operation was launched immediately. Officers evacuated patrons and staff from the venue and cordoned off the surrounding area.

Within an hour, the shooter was detained by KORD operatives. He is currently in custody, and medical personnel are providing him with necessary assistance.

The Cherkasy police have initiated a criminal proceeding under Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The motives behind the incident are being established.
