In Kharkiv, law enforcement officials have arrested an individual who assaulted a veteran of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

On the evening of August 3, the police received reports of gunfire in the Industrial District. Officers and investigators promptly arrived at the scene.

It was determined that during a sudden altercation, one participant pulled out a traumatic pistol and shot at his opponent at close range, subsequently beating him. The 22-year-old victim, a veteran of the Armed Forces, was hospitalized.

The police quickly located and arrested the shooter, a 42-year-old local resident. He was apprehended in accordance with legal procedures.

Investigators have initiated a preliminary investigation under the hooliganism statute. The maximum penalty for this offense can reach up to 7 years of imprisonment. All details of the incident are being clarified.
