Kyiv police have apprehended two young men who assaulted a Svyatoshyn district resident following a remark he made.
The attackers violently struck the man after he commented on their behavior and drinking alcohol at a local sports ground. They face up to ten years in prison for their crime.
Witnesses called the emergency line 102 to report a man lying near the sports ground showing signs of severe beating. An investigative team and medical personnel arrived at the scene.
Authorities discovered that the two suspects were drinking alcohol in a yard when a local resident approached them and made a comment about their loud behavior. The conversation escalated into a conflict, resulting in the assailants attacking the 34-year-old victim until he lost consciousness.
After the attack, the perpetrators fled, and an ambulance crew transported the man to the hospital in critical condition. He is currently in intensive care.
Svyatoshyn police operatives, along with the criminal analysis sector, determined that the crime involved two 24-year-old city residents. The police arrested them according to Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Investigators informed the suspects of their charges under part 2 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for intentional severe bodily harm, dangerous to life at the moment of infliction, committed by a group of individuals. The court has chosen a preventive measure of detention. The article's sanction provides for up to ten years of imprisonment.
