The Security Service of Ukraine, in collaboration with the National Police, conducted an operation that resulted in the arrest of two women suspected of preparing terrorist acts in Poltava and Dnipro.
According to the investigation, the detainees acted under the direction of Russian intelligence services. Both women, residents of Poltava, had prior convictions for drug trafficking and theft.
They were targeted by aggressors through Telegram channels, seeking easy money after their release from prison.
The agents were tasked with physically eliminating judges and volunteers using improvised explosive devices.
To execute their plans, the agents split up: one remained in Poltava while the other went to Dnipro to gather information on potential targets.
Upon arriving in Dnipro, one of them received coordinates for explosives hidden in a scooter's trunk.
She parked the rigged vehicle near a local judge's car, intending to remotely detonate the explosives.
The agent set up a camera to monitor the judge but was apprehended by SBU officers, who also arrested her accomplice in Poltava.
Before their main operations, the women conducted a test by setting fire to a Ukrainian soldier's vehicle.
Investigators brought charges against them under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
Part 2 of Article 111 (treason in wartime);
Part 2 of Article 15, Part 2 of Article 258 (attempted terrorist act);
Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 114-1 (obstruction of the Armed Forces' activities).
The women are in custody and face life imprisonment with asset forfeiture.
The operations were conducted under the guidance of the Poltava Regional Prosecutor's Office and the Dnipropetrovsk Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Defense.
