Investigation into Budget Misappropriation in Kyiv

Law enforcement reveals budget misappropriation in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv. An official has been detained.

Investigators from the Shevchenkivskyi police department, with the operational support of the SBU in Kyiv and Kyiv region, uncovered instances of budget misappropriation.

According to the head of the investigative unit, Mykola Habinet, the suspect is the acting head of the Department of Urban Planning, Architecture, and Land Use of the Shevchenkivskyi District Administration.
It has been established that she conspired with entrepreneurs to purchase modular heating system blocks at inflated prices. The conspirators inflated the prices through their controlled companies before reselling to the final customer.
As a result, nine modular heating system blocks cost the city one million hryvnias with a markup, as confirmed by forensic examinations.
Investigators detained the official under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and announced charges against her under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for misappropriating budget funds through abuse of office. The sanctions for this article carry a penalty of up to twelve years in prison, along with a ban on holding certain positions for up to three years and confiscation of property.
