The Security Service of Ukraine has detained six pro-Russian internet agitators operating in various regions of the country. These individuals were justifying Russia's armed aggression and war crimes.
In Kyiv, a former propagandist from a pro-Kremlin newspaper was detained, who, after the closure of his editorial office, began writing a sports column for a well-known online publication in Ukraine.
While working at the editorial office, he simultaneously published posts in Telegram channels, calling for the bombing of Ukrainian cities and the capture of Kyiv.
Additionally, another internet provocateur was exposed in the capital. This was a 26-year-old fitness trainer who, on his Instagram page, urged men to avoid mobilization and spread fake news about the defense forces.
In the Fastiv district of Kyiv region, a citizen from one of the Central Asian countries was detained for calling on Ukrainians to lay down their arms before the invaders.
To promote hostile content, this foreigner created accounts on Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook, amassing an audience of 60,000 users.
Cyber specialists of the Security Service also apprehended a Kyiv resident who praised Putin and glorified the Russian occupation groups in Russian social networks.
In Kropivnitsky, a 41-year-old displaced person from Donetsk was detained for supporting the occupation of the eastern region of Ukraine on Odnoklassniki.
In Ivano-Frankivsk region, a 30-year-old resident of the village of Perehresne was exposed for calling Russia's armed aggression a 'civil war' on his Facebook page.
Judicial linguistic examinations initiated by the Security Service confirmed the facts of information-sabotage activities of the detainees in favor of the Kremlin.
Investigators of the Security Service informed them of the suspicion under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- Part 1 of Article 114-1 (obstruction of the legal activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations during a special period);
- Parts 2, 3 of Article 436-2 (justification, recognition of the legality of the denial of armed aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants);
- Part 2 of Article 109 (public calls for violent change of the constitutional order, as well as dissemination of materials for committing such actions).
The offenders are in custody. They face up to 8 years in prison with confiscation of property.
Complex measures were carried out under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kirovohrad regional and Kyiv city prosecutors, as well as the Office of the General Prosecutor.
