The Security Service of Ukraine conducted an operation resulting in the arrest of a resident of Varash, who, according to the investigation, planned to collaborate with Russian special services to carry out an attack on power lines supplying the Rivne Nuclear Power Plant.

Official Statement: "It has been established that the man was recruited via Telegram by representatives of the Russian intelligence. He agreed to provide the enemy with coordinates of the pylons that are critical for a potential missile strike on the Rivne NPP."
Details: According to the investigation, the arrested individual is a former employee of the Rivne NPP who left his job before the full-scale invasion. In the spring of 2025, he received a message from a Russian military intelligence officer proposing collaboration for monetary compensation.
After recruitment, he received specific instructions, including placing a GPS tracker on one of the high-voltage line pylons to adjust drone strikes.
Prior to executing the mission, he conducted reconnaissance, studying the locations of Ukrainian military units guarding the NPP. Ultimately, he attempted to attach the tracker but was apprehended by SBU counterintelligence.
During his arrest, a mobile phone used for communication with Russian intelligence was seized.
The suspect has been charged under part 2 of article 113 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – sabotage during a state of war. He is currently in custody without the right to bail.
He faces a life sentence with asset confiscation.
